BSW Timber Group can offer machine wet graded and kiln-dried timber to class C16 and visually graded timber is available subject to species availability and agreement.
Purlins are the horizontal structural members used in roof construction, they support the loads from the roof deck or sheathing and are supported by the principal rafters and/or the building walls. The use of purlins, as opposed to closely spaced rafters, is common in pre-engineered metal building systems, some timber frame constructions and in agricultural buildings.
The EU Construction Products Regulation (CPR) came into effect from 1st July 2013 and ensured that all graded timber products must declare their performance characteristics by CE marking and producing a manufacturers Declaration of Performance. This essentially gives the timber a passport to be used under a universal European standard.
The CE mark is printed on BSW’s strength graded products and the Declaration of Performance can be found at www.bsw.co.uk/dop. The enforcement of CE marking on agricultural purlins was delayed until 1st July 2014 but is now a requirement and will be policed by Trading Standards.
