BSW Timber has donated timber from its nearby mill in Boat of Garten to create a safe walkway for pedestrians alongside the new River Dulnain railway bridge.
The pedestrian walkway was supplied to the Strathspey Railway Charitable Trust in support of its £30,000 initiative to bring steam engines back to Grantown-on-Spey in the Highlands.
The Trust’s Rails to Grantown project aims to revive the highland rail link by extending the line to Grantown-on-Spey, creating increased tourist and commuter traffic for the benefit of local businesses.
David Mills, mill manager for BSW Timber at Boat of Garten, said: “It’s a pleasure to be able to offer practical support to Strathspey Charitable Railway Trust, and get behind its endeavours to revive the area’s railway heritage. There’s a real community effort behind the project, and we’re pleased to be a part of that.”
David Fraser, chairman of Strathspey Railway Charitable Trust, said: “The installation of the bridge over the River Dulnain is a really significant step for the project, and it’s encouraging to have the support of local businesses such as BSW Timber.”
